The tower began as part of Bern’s medieval fortifications and later became the city’s principal timekeeper. Its celebrated mechanism and moving figures date from the 16th century. The coin translates the ornate astronomical dial, gilded details and stone architecture into a broad 50 mm canvas, using Proof surfaces and selective colour to emphasise the clock face.
